In the morning, November 04, 2019, in Hanoi, the General Statistics Office (GSO) had a courtesy reception for the delegation from the Central Bureau of Statistics of Nepal (CBS). Accompanying the delegation is JICA representative in Nepal (JICA – Japan International Cooperation Agency). Mr. Pham Quang Vinh, Deputy Director General of GSO chaired the reception. Attending this meeting were representatives of relevant units under the GSO.
The purpose of this study visit of the CBS is to learn about and exchange Vietnam’s experiences of organizing the implementation of the 2017 Economic Census and other censuses; at the same time, the delegation wishes to learn about the establishment of database on enterprise registration in Vietnam
During five working days, November 04-08, 2019, two sides will focus on exchanging the following contents: (1) Introduction of the Statistical System of Vietnam and Nepal; (2) Overview and analysis of the 2017 Economic Census of the two countries; (3) Overview of the 2019 Population and Housing Census in Vietnam and the application of CAPI in this Census; (4) Overview of the 2020 Economic Census in Vietnam; (5) Introduction of JICA Statistics Project in Nepal.
Also within the framework of the mission of CBS in Vietnam, the delegation will visit and work with the provincial statistical office of Quang Ninh province about the organization work of local statistical office and the implementation of the 2017 Economic Census at local level in Vietnam.
Speaking at the meeting, Deputy Director General of GSO Pham Quan Vinh confirmed that the GSO was ready to share with the CBS mission all its experiences obtained from the 2017 Economic Census and other censuses of Vietnam. On this occasion, the Deputy Director General of GSO expressed his thanks to JICA for its support to Vietnam in general and the GSO in particular in many fields and activities in the past time as well as in the coming time.
