Mr. Vu Thanh Liem – Deputy Director General of GSO delivered a speech at the workshop
On the morning of August 27th, 2019, in Hanoi, supported by the GIZ Macroeconomic Reforms/ Green Growth Program (German Corporation for International Cooperation), the General Statistics Office (GSO) held a Conference to announce the Set of National Gender Development Statistical Indicators. Mr. Vu Thanh Liem – Deputy Director General of GSO chaired the conference. Attending this event were Dr. Michael Krakowski – Director of the Macroeconomic Reforms/ Green Growth Program, GIZ; Mr. Obert Pimhidzai – Senior Economist, World Bank; experts from international organizations; independent experts; representatives of relevant ministries and branches; representatives of leaders and specialists of units under the GSO.
At the Conference, Mr. Vu Thanh Liem – Deputy Director General of GSO announced the Circular No. 10/2019/TT-BKHDT dated July 30th, 2019 by the Minister of Planning and Investment stipulating the Set of National Gender Development Statistical Indicators with 78 indictors (hereafter called the Set). This Set includes many indicators reflecting the important characteristics and nature, the main relations on gender development in Vietnam; is a basis for monitoring and evaluating the situation of gender development, the advancement of women and gender equality in all socio-economic fields; meets the needs of using gender statistical information of agencies, organizations and individuals.

Representative of GSO and the Editorial Team also presented the development process and main contents of the Set.
At the end of the Conference, participants engaged in discussion about issues related to the Set as well as the roadmap for implementing it.
In his speech at the Conference, Mr. Liem thanked the close co-ordination and active participation of relevant ministries and branches, non-governmental organizations, experts; the financial and technical support of international organizations (GIZ, World Bank, Australian Embassy in Vietnam, UN Women,etc.) in the development process of the Set. He also expressed his wish that experts, organizations and relevant ministries and branches would continue to accompany the GSO to make this Circular come into effect and effective, in order to achieve gender equality in Vietnam contributing to ensure human rights and make Vietnam develop quickly and sustainably.
