In the morning of October 1st, 2020, ASEAN Statistics Agency (ASEANstats) organized an online meeting on informal employment statistics to collect comments from the Working Group on Dissemination, Sharing, Analysis and Communication (WGDSA) for the inclusion of these indicators in the ASEAN Statistics Indicators consolidate template (ASI-CT). Participants attending the meeting were members of the WGDSA and focal points on informal employment statistics of ASEAN countries. Vietnamese participants, in addition to members of the WGDSA, were also representatives of the Department of Population and Labor Statistics, the Department of Foreign Statistics and International Cooperation.
The meeting discussed following contents: (1) Priority indicators of informal employment to be included in ASI-CT; (2) ASEAN Statistics Agency publishes informal employment data at the regional level. Disclosure of this data must comply with the Policy and Principles of Data Sharing, Confidentiality and Disclosure approved by ASEAN Community Statistics System (ACSS) in 2013; (3) The informal employment database is updated when new data is available from member countries; (4) WGDSA coordinates with relevant departments of member states to provide informal employment data in the ASI-CT. In informal employment database, ASEAN Statistics Secretariat is the focal point to update the regional database, and will publish the bulletins of this data every 2 year or the Official Report for every 5 year.
At the end of the meeting, WGDSA of countries came to an agreement to include informal employment indicators in the ASI-CT. The results of the meeting will be sent by ASEANstats to the Chair of the ASEAN senior labour officials meeting (SLOM), ACSS and SCPC Group.
