On August 16th, 2021, the Director General of the General Statistics Office issued Decision No. 909/Q-TCTK on the issuance of the Plan for conducting the Labor Force Survey for the year 2022. The Labor Force Survey for 2022 (abbreviated as LFS 2022) is a sample survey within the national statistical survey program conducted with the aim of collecting information on the labor market participation status of individuals aged 15 and above currently residing in Vietnam. This information serves as a basis for synthesizing and compiling national statistical indicators on labor, employment, unemployment, and earning of the workforce. The survey results assist the Government, the Prime Minister, various levels of administration, and sectors in assessing and forecasting the dynamics of the labor market nationwide and provinces. It also aids in formulating policies for human resource development, production and business plans in line with the development trends of the labor market.
This report will present the key findings of the Labor Force Survey for 2022, providing information on labor and employment for users. Due to the scope of information collected related to the labor market of individuals aged 15 and above residing in Vietnam, the indicators on labor and employment in the report will mainly be calculated for the age group of 15 and above. However, to meet the research, evaluation, and analysis needs of the labor and employment information for the statutory working age (before 2020: males from 15 to 59 years old and females from 15 to 54 years old, in 2021: males from 15 to 60 years and 3 months old and females from 15 to 55 years and 4 months old; in 2022: males from 15 to less than 60 years and 6 months old and females from 15 to less than 55 years and 8 months old – according to the 2019 Labor Code), this report will also present some key labor indicators for this target group. The data is aggregated quarterly at the national and regional levels and annually at the provincial level.
The Labor Force Survey for 2022 received technical support from the International Labour Organization (ILO). The General Statistics Office highly values this support and hopes to continue receiving ILO’s assistance for future surveys.
