The National Statistical Yearbook compiled and published annually by the National Statistics Office, has provided a fundamentally statistical data system, reflecting comprehensive socio-economic situation and environment of the whole country, socio-economic regions, and provinces. Besides, the Statistical Yearbook has also introduced some key statistical indicators of countries and territories in the world to meet the demands for research, analysis, evaluation, and international comparison of users.
Besides system of statistical data tables, explanations of terminology, content, and calculation methodologies of some key statistical indicators, the 2025 National Statistical Yearbook also analyzed, assessed the main features of socio-economic development of the country because the year 2025 was the final year of implementation of five-year socio-economic development plan 2021-2025.
From July 1st, 2025, the restructuring of provincial-level administrative units from 63 to 34 centrally-governed provinces and cities was a crucial reform process aiming at streamlining the government apparatus, improving the effectiveness and efficiency of the state management, and expanding the province’s spatial development. In this context, besides the indicators were aggregated by 63 centrally-run provinces and municipalities, the 2025 National Statistical Yearbook complemented an “Appendix of some key socio-economic indicators of the 34 centrally-run provinces and cities” to facilitate the user’s research, analysis, and evaluation of province’s socio-economic development after implementation of the administrative boundary merger. In the Appendix, data for statistical indicators which were available for collection, aggregation, and calculation were published in the 2020-2025 time series; some statistical indicators that were unqualified to compile in a yearly series, were published for the year 2025. Data compilation and publication were carried out based on inheriting current sources of statistical information, application of aggregation methods, and transition from old to new administrative units to accurately reflect the socio-economic situation of provinces after the merger.
The National Statistics Office would like to express its great gratitude to all agencies, units, and individuals for their contributions as well as comments to the content and format of this publication. We look forward to receiving further feedback for improvement of the National Statistical Yearbook to better meet the requirements of domestic and foreign data users./.
