As of mid-October, provinces in the North harvested 837.4 thousand hectares of winter rice, accounting for 70% of the cultivated area and equaling 96.6% from the same pariod last year.
As of mid-November, the country harvested 1436.9 thousand hectares of winter-rice, accounting for 76.2% of the cultivated area and equaling 86.1% from the same period last year.
2015 is the year of great significance because this is the last year for implementing the social-economic development five-year plan 2011-2015.
GDP in the 1st quarter of 2014 was estimated to grow 4.96% from the same period in 2013, of which the sector of agriculture, forestry and fishery increased by 2.37%; industry and construction by 4.69%; service by 5.95%.

In the economic structure, agriculture, forestry and fishery rose 2.96%, contributed 0.55 percentage points; industry and construction 5.33%, contributed 2.06 percentage points; and service 6.01%, contributed 2.57 percentage points.
