Socio-economic situation in the second quarter and six months of 2016

GDP in six months of 2016 was estimated to grow by 5.52% compared to the same period last year. The growth in six beginning months of this year was higher than the growth in the same period of years 2012-2014, but there were signs of a slowdown compared with the increase of 6.32% in the same period of 2015.

Socio-economic situation in May and five months of 2016

Generally, in five beginning months of the year, the country had 44740 enterprises registered for new establishment with a total registered capital of 349.5 trillion dongs, an increase of 24.1% in the number of businesses and an increase of 59.3% in the registered capital against the same period in 2015.

As of 15 April, the country cultivated 3072.1 thousand hectares of winter-spring rice, equaling 99.3% from the same period last year, of which localities in the North cultivated 1147.6 thousand hectares, equaling 99.6% ; provinces in the South cultivated 1924.5 thousand hectares, equaling 99.1%.

GDP in the first quarter was estimated to increase by 5.46% over the same period last year. The growth in the First quarter of this year was higher than the first Quarter of years 2012-2014, but there were signs of a slowdown compared with the increase of 6.12% in the same period in 2015.

As of mid-February, the country cultivated 2393.1 thousand hectares of winter-spring rice, equaling 100.2% of the figure in the same period last year, of which provinces in the North cultivated 480.6 thousand hectares, equaling 100.3%; provinces in the South cultivated 1912 thousand hectares, equaling 100.2%.

Total retail sales of consumer goods and services in January were estimated to reach 297.7 trillion dongs, increased by 3.5% from the previous month and by 11.7% against the same period in 2015 (if the price factor were excluded, the growth rate would be 11%).

As of mid-February, the country cultivated 2387.4 thousand hectares of winter-spring rice, equaling 92% from the same period last year. The cultivated area in the Red River Delta was estimated to reach 84.8 thousand hectares, only equaling 41.2% from the identical period last year

Social and economic situation in the first quarter of 2015

GDP in the first quarter of 2015 was estimated 6.03% increase against the same period in 2014; this is the highest growth rate in the first quarter for the last 5 years . Of the overall growth rate, the agriculture, forestry and fishery grew by 2.14%, contributed 0.28 percentage points; the industry and construction by 8.35%, contributed 2.82 percentages points; the service by 5.82%, contributed 2.36 percentage points; product tax excluding product subsidy by 4.47%, contributed 0.57 percentage points.
