Mr. Vu Thanh Liem, Deputy Director General of GSO and Ms. Rana Flowers, UNICEF Representative in Vietnam co-chaired the workshop. Attending this event were Mr. Pham Quang Vinh, Deputy Director General of GSO; Mr. Nguyen Trung Tien, Deputy Director General of GSO; representatives of leaders and specialists of units under the GSO; representatives of relevant ministries, line-ministries; representatives of home and international organizations. |
![]() Ms. Rana Flowers, UNICEF Representative in Vietnam delivered a speech at the workshop Measuring SDGCW 2020 is a survey to be conducted in 2020 jointly by the GSO and UNICEF Vietnam in order to collect and provide a major source of sustainable development data on the well-being of children and women. This survey is tailored from the Multiple Indicator Cluster Survey (MICS 6), developed by UNICEF. The SDGCW 2020 will generate data for 55 indicators of Vietnam’s Sustainable Development Goals (VSDGs) that are related to children and women. Globally, the survey provides two-thirds of the SDG indicators that can be collected through households surveys. SDGCW 2020 has many new features in both data collection and publication. Regarding data collection: (1) New indicators (on early childhood development, life satisfaction and water quality), questionnaires and structure of questionnaires; (2) New disaggregation – migratory status, disability and urban poverty; (3) New experiment – Test and calculate water quality index; (4) Data on geographic location. About data publication: (1) Publish results within 6 months; (2) Brief final report; (3) Thematic reports, summary of data; (4) Digitized questionnaires; (5) Quick result sheet. |
![]() Overview of the workshop At the workshop, participants followed the presentations on: (1) Data needs for indicators under Vietnam’s Set of SDG Indicators to monitor the implementation of SDGs: Available data and data gaps; (2) Measuring SDGCW: Filling data gaps; (3) Measuring on SDGCW 2020: History, implementation plan and budget mobilization. In the session of discussion, participants offered positive suggestions and highly appreciated the meaning of the Survey, which will help Vietnam monitor and better implement the commitment “Leaving no one behind”. It is expected that products generated from SDGCW 2020 include a full survey report, statistical snapshot, infographics, brochures, topical factsheets, story books as well as a range of secondary data analyses that can provide an in-depth picture of particular population groups. |
