On November 6, 2019, in Hanoi, the General Statistics Office (GSO) held the mid-term meeting of the Management Board of the Project “Vietnam – Improvement of National Statistical System” funded by the Government of Italy. Ms. Nguyen Thi Huong, Deputy Director General of GSO chaired the meeting. Attending this meeting were representatives of the Italian Agency for Development Cooperation (AICS), Office in Rome and Hanoi; members of the Project Management Board of both sides; representatives of leaders of relevant units under the GSO.
The Government of Italy, through the AICS, has provided support to GSO with the technical assistance project to improve the national statistical system of Vietnam for a period of 3 years, starting from April 2018. In an overview of the progress and situation of implementing the Project, Ms. Roberta Fontana from the Italian National Institute of Statistics (Istat), the Project Director said that the current progress of the Project has achieved 51%, was considered be in accordance with and ensuring the progress proposed.
At the meeting, the focal point of the components of the Project presented the reports on activities implemented as of October 25, 2019: (1) Report on activities implemented in Component 1 – Building institutions; (2) Report on activities implemented in Component 2 – Energy; (3) Report on activities implemented in Component 3 – Environment and Climate Change; (4) Report on activities implemented in Component 4 – Information dissemination; (5) Report on activities implemented in Component 5 – Information Technology (ICT).
The two sides also exchanged and evaluated generally the situation and results of activities implemented; updated the overall plan of activities of the Project; made plans for the next phase; discussed the coordination with other donors, events, promotion activities as well as agreed on the date for the next meeting of the Project Management Board.
