In the afternoon of October 16th, 2020, in Hanoi, Ms. Nguyen Thi Huong – General Director of the General Statistics Office (GSO) had a meeting with the International Labor Organization (ILO) led by Head of the delegation, Ms. Va-len-ti-na, the Deputy Director of the ILO in Vietnam. Participants of the meeting were Mr. Pham Quang Vinh – Deputy General Director of GSO and leaders of relevant departments of GSO.

For many years, the ILO has supported the GSO to apply the best international statistical standards in the field of labor statistics, and employment. GSO highly appreciated ILO’s support and cooperation in recent years.

However, currently, the field of labor statistics, employment still has some issues that need further improvement: (1) Connecting labor supply – demand; (2) Using employment information to compile general statistical indicators such as labor productivity; (3) Communication of labor and employment statistics including communication of statistical methodology and statistical information.

At the end of the meeting, GSO and ILO come to an agreement to continue closely cooperating, coordinating and effectively supporting to improve statistical quality, in order to meet international standards and needs of increasingly information. /.
