Mr. Nguyen Trung Tien, Deputy General Director of GSO chaired the workshop
On the morning of April 13, 2022, the General Statistics Office (GSO) held a workshop on handing over and training on the use of the Website of the Developed Population Spatial Data System (WEBGIS). Mr. Nguyen Trung Tien, Deputy General Director of GSO chaired the workshop. Attending were representatives of PACOM Software Joint Stock Company, the enterprise building and developing WEBGIS website; representatives of leaders and statisticians of Departments under GSO.
To spread the information about the 2019 Population and Housing Census, with the support of the United Nations Population Fund in Vietnam (UNFPA), GSO has successfully built a website for the Data System developed population space (WEBGIS). The information page is developed and integrated on GIS software with full administrative data, which is updated regularly, quickly, and accurately. The website has been jointly announced by the GSO and UNFPA from January 9, 2022, with many modern tools, up to date with world trends such as: Digitizing the map of Vietnam with statistical data on population collected from the 2019 Population and Housing Census, environmental and disaster data, and some related statistical data; Utilize GPS data of households obtained from the 2019 Vietnam Population and Housing Census to assist in determining census sites for the industry’s household sampling surveys statistics (from the stage of locating, checking the locating to checking, monitoring, and surveying).
The successful construction of the WEBGIS website is a part of realizing the goal of the Vietnam Statistical Development Strategy for the period of 2021 – 2030, with a vision of 2045, to disseminate statistical information to all users at once the most transparent, fastest, complete, and most accessible way.
