In 2025, the Vietnamese economy still faced many challenges by natural disasters and extreme weather. Torrential rainfall, severe storms, floods, flash floods, and landslides in some localities caused disruption in production, circulation of goods, and negatively affected on people’s lives. In that context, under the leadership of the Communist Party of Viet Nam, and with the flexible, decisive, timely, and effective guidance of the Government and the Prime Minister, ministries, agencies, and localities closely monitored the fluctuations in the global and domestic economic situation, striving to implement tasks and solutions in a coordinated manner. Viet Nam’s economy achieved comprehensive results across sectors and fields, with macroeconomic stability and inflation under control.

Index of industrial production in August of 2026

The industrial production index for the manufacturing sector in August rose 14.6% compared to the same period last year; the water supply and waste management and treatment sector increased by 9.5%; the electricity production and distribution sector increased by 11.8%; and the mining sector rose by 18.5%.

Consumer Price Index, Gold Price Index and US Dollar Price Index in August and eight months of 2026

Consumer Price Index (CPI) in August increased by 0.47% compared with the previous month; increased by 3.57% compared with December 2025 and increased by 4.89% compared with the same period of the previous year. On average, in the first eight months of 2026, the CPI increased by 4.45% compared with the same period of the previous year; core inflation increased by 4.24%.

As of August 20, 2026, the whole country has basically completed sowing the summer-autumn rice crop with an area of 1,870.0 thousand hectares, down 29.1 thousand hectares compared to last year's summer-autumn crop. In detail, the northern provinces reached 167.5 thousand hectares, down 4.9 thousand hectares; the southern provinces reached 1,702.5 thousand hectares, down 24.2 thousand hectares.

In summary, for the first nine months of 2025, the IIP is estimated to increase by 9.1% compared to the same period last year (up 8.4% in the same period of 2024). Among them, the manufacturing and processing industry increased by 10.4% (up 9.6% in the same period of 2024), contributing 8.4 percentage points to the overall increase.
