Generally, in the first five months of 2025, the IIP of the whole industry is estimated to increase by 8.8% over the same period last year.
As of May 20, 2025, the entire country has sown 2,970.9 thousand hectares, an increase of 17.0 thousand hectares compared to the previous winter-spring season.
A month-on-month increase of 0.16% in consumer price index (CPI) in May 2025 was mainly due to increases in the prices of house rent, housing maintenance materials, electricity and eating out. The CPI in May increased by 1.53% compared to December 2024; increased by 3.24% compared to the same period last year.

Rising rental housing prices, food prices and eating out were the main reasons for the 0.07% increase in the April 2025 consumer price index (CPI) over the previous month. Compared to December 2024, the April CPI increased by 1.37%; up 3.12% over the same period last year.
The industrial production index in January 2025 is estimated to decrease by 9.2% compared to the previous month and increase by 0.6% over the same period last year, of which the processing and manufacturing industry increased by 1.6%.
Agricultural, forestry and fishery production in 2024 will take place in complicated weather conditions: Intense heat, drought in the Central Highlands and Central regions; saltwater intrusion in the southern provinces, especially the impact of storm No. 3 on the northern localities. The rice area for the whole year of 2024 is estimated at 7.13 million hectares, an increase of 12.0 thousand hectares compared to the previous year; rice yield was estimated at 60.9 quintals/ha, down 0.12 quintals/ha, rice output reached 43.46 million tons, down 33.6 thousand tons.
