Infographic socio-economic situation in the fourth quarter and 2024
Agricultural, forestry and fishery production in 2024 will take place in complicated weather conditions: Intense heat, drought in the Central Highlands and Central regions; saltwater intrusion in the southern provinces, especially the impact of storm No. 3 on the northern localities. The rice area for the whole year of 2024 is estimated at 7.13 million hectares, an increase of 12.0 thousand hectares compared to the previous year; rice yield was estimated at 60.9 quintals/ha, down 0.12 quintals/ha, rice output reached 43.46 million tons, down 33.6 thousand tons.

As of November 20, 2024, the whole country has harvested 1,403.4 thousand hectares of seasonal rice, accounting for 90.7% of the cultivated area and equal to 95.7% of the same period last year. In which, the Northern localities harvested 933.8 thousand hectares, accounting for 93.8% and equaling 94.5%; the southern localities harvested 469.6 thousand hectares, accounting for 85.3% and equaling 98.2%.

As of October 20, 2024, the country's seasonal rice crop has cultivated 1,540.9 thousand hectares, equaling 99.9% of the previous year's crop, of which: Northern localities reached 997.2 thousand hectares, equaling 99.2%; southern localities reached 543.7 thousand hectares, equaling 101.1%.

However, agricultural, forestry and fishery production in the third quarter and nine months of 2023 maintained stable growth.
