Socio-economic situation in the fourth quarter and the whole year of 2016

The GDP in 2016 was estimated to increase by 6.21% compared to 2015, of which quarters’ growth rate was 5.48%, 5.78%, 6.56%, and 6.68%, respectively. This year’s overall growth rate was lower than the increase of 6.68% in 2015 and did not reach the target of 6.7%.

Socio-economic situation in November and eleven months of 2016

Generally, in eleven months, Industrial Production Index (IPI) increased by 7.3% from the same period last year, lower than the growth rate of 7.4% in ten months of 2016 and much lower than the growth rate of 9.9% in 2015’s similar period.

Socio-economic situation in October and ten months of 2016

As of mid-October, the Northern provinces harvested 810.9 thousand hectares of winter rice, accounting for 70.4% of the cultivated area and equalling 96.8% from the same period last year, of which the Red River Delta harvested 400.3 thousand hectares, accounting for 73% of the cultivated area and equalling 94.7%.

The gross domestic product (GDP) in 9 months of 2016 was estimated to increase 5.93% over the same period last year, continuing to maintain the GDP growth rate of the next quarter higher than the previous quarter.

Socio-economic situation in August and eight months of 2016

As of August 15, the whole country cultivated 1352.0 thousand hectares of winter rice, equaling 98.9% from the same period last year, of which Northern provinces cultivated 1127.1 thousand hectares, equaling 98.6% from the same period last year; Southern localities cultivated 224.9 thousand hectares, equaling 100.4% from the same period last year.
