SOCIAL AND ECONOMIC SITUATIONS IN THE FIRST 6 MONTHS OF 2015

Vietnamese socio-economy in the first 6 months of 2015 took place in the context that the world economy was forecasted to continuously recover but not sustainable with different growth rate among sectors, partly due to different impacts of reduced prices of oil and other goods on each sector. The US economy - the largest economy continued to strongly grow thanks to robust domestic market demand, especially consumer demand. Most emerging economies benefited from low oil prices, rise of global liquidity and the acceleration of the US and European economies.

There were a 8.4% growth in total realized investment capital under the State budget compared to the corresponding period last year with the capital of VND 18,689 billion, equalling 4.2% of the annual plan.

Socio-economic situation in October and ten months of 2016

As of mid-October, the Northern provinces harvested 810.9 thousand hectares of winter rice, accounting for 70.4% of the cultivated area and equalling 96.8% from the same period last year, of which the Red River Delta harvested 400.3 thousand hectares, accounting for 73% of the cultivated area and equalling 94.7%.

As of August 15, the whole country cultivated 1352.0 thousand hectares of winter rice, equaling 98.9% from the same period last year, of which Northern provinces cultivated 1127.1 thousand hectares, equaling 98.6% from the same period last year; Southern localities cultivated 224.9 thousand hectares, equaling 100.4% from the same period last year.

As of mid-July, the whole country cultivated 2094.1 thousand hectares of summer-autumn rice, equaling 100.1% against the similar period last year

GDP in six months of 2016 was estimated to grow by 5.52% compared to the same period last year. The growth in six beginning months of this year was higher than the growth in the same period of years 2012-2014, but there were signs of a slowdown compared with the increase of 6.32% in the same period of 2015.

Socio-economic situation in May and five months of 2016

Generally, in five beginning months of the year, the country had 44740 enterprises registered for new establishment with a total registered capital of 349.5 trillion dongs, an increase of 24.1% in the number of businesses and an increase of 59.3% in the registered capital against the same period in 2015.
