CPI, gold and USD price indexes, March 2019

Average CPI in the first quarter of 2019 increased by 2.63% compared to the the corresponding period in 2018, this is the lowest increase in the first quarter in the last 3 years; CPI in March 2019 went up by 0.69% over December 2018 and 2.7% over the same period in 2018.

Generally, in the first four months of 2019, total estimated retail sales of consumer goods and services reached 1,583.7 trillion dongs, increasing by 11.9% against the same period last year, if excluding the price factor, the growth rate was 9% (it increased by 8.9% in the same period in 2018).

Index of Industrial Production in 2015

(IIP) was estimated to grow by 9.8% from 2014, higher than 2013’s increase of 5.9% and 2014’s increase of 7.6%. Of which the mining and quarrying went up by 6.5%; the manufacturing rose 10.6%; the power generation and supply grew by 11.4%.

Index of Industrial Production in 2016

Index of industrial production in 2016 increased by 7.5% over 2015, much lower than the growth rate of 9.8% in 2015 and 7.6% in 2014 due to the sharp decline of the mining and quarrying.

CPI, gold and USD price indexes, May 2019

Average CPI in the first five months of 2019 expanded by 2.74% from the similar period in 2018. CPI in May 2019 increased by 1.5% against December 2018 and by 2.88% from the identical period last year.
