The increase in the number of newly established enterprises and the registered capital is one of the economic highlights in the first 4 months of 2021. There are 44,166 newly established enterprises with total registered capital of 627.7 thousand billion dong, an increase of 17.5% in the number of enterprises and an increase of 41% in the registered capital over the same period in 2020. The increase in number of newly established enterprises is highest in the period 2017-2021 and increased in all industries.

By economic sector, the service sector has the highest number of newly established enterprises with 31,314 enterprises, accounting for 70.9% of newly established enterprises in the first 4 months of 2021, an increase of 18.2% compared to the same period of previous year; registered capital was 388.8 trillion dong, accounting for 61.9% of total registered capital and increasing by 24.3%. Industry and construction sector has 12,152 enterprises, accounting for 27.5% and increasing by 15.2%; registered capital is 225.2 trillion dong, accounting for 35.9% and increasing by 83.1%.

The agriculture, forestry, forestry and fishery sector has 694 enterprises, accounting for 1.6%, an increase of 24.4%; registered capital is nearly 13.7 trillion dong, accounting for 2.1% and increasing 44.2%. In addition to the efforts of the business community, the above results have been achieved thanks to throughtly implement solutions to improve the business environment and support businesses during the past time. According to the assessment in the Report “Vietnam Business Environment Reform Program: Bussiness perspective” conducted by the Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry (VCCI), in 11 areas of Resolution 02/NQ- CP in 2020 on continuing to implement the main tasks and solutions to improve the business environment and enhance national competitiveness in 2020, the field of business establishment is the most appreciated field, with 72.5% of enterprises rated the change as good or very good. The time for business registration and business start-up has decreased continuously since 2014 and will continue to be improved due to the newly issued regulations on interoperability of administrative procedures.

Also in the first 4 months of this year, there was VND 792.9 trillion in additional registered capital of 14.9 thousand enterprises adjusted to increase capital, an incrrease of 16.4% over the same period of previous year. In addition, nearly 19.3 thousand businesses returned to operation, showing flexibly of enterprises responding to the epidemic situation has markedly improved. Enterprises have proactively planned different scenarios to respond to the epidemic, hence, they not only maintaining business operations but also helping the economy not to suffer a deep decline and ready for the recovery.

Although the impact of the epidemic on the economy is still persistent, thanks to the successful implementation of the dual goal of “both disease prevention and socio-economic development”, the business community’s confidence increase in the economic development guidelines, guidelines and policies of the Party and the Government in the 2021-2025 term. These are positive signals about business development prospects in the coming time.
