Specially, the growth of export turnover in October made an important contribution to bringing the trade balance back to the 10 months of trade surplus. Export turnover in October reached 28.9 billion USD, increased by 6.8% over the previous month and increased by 6.1% compared to the same period last year. Generally in 10 months, export turnover reached 269.8 billion USD, went up 17.4% compared to the same period last year, of which the domestic economic sector gained USD 72.3 billion, increased by 11.5%, accounting for 26.8% of total export turnover; FDI sector (including crude oil) reached 197.5 billion USD, increased by 20.8%, accounting for 73.2%.

In ten months of 2021, there were 31 products with export turnover of over 1 billion USD, contributing 92.4% to the total export turnover (6 products with export turnover of over 10 billion USD, accounting for 62.9%).

The South East region has a particularly important position and role in the country’s socio-economic development, making great contributions to the country’s growth, budget revenue, import and export. In the past 10 months, the South East region has been heavily affected by the Covid-19 pandemic with the highest number of infections in the country and the implementation of distance according to Directive No. 16 of the Prime Minister with the longest scale and time in the country. The complicated development of the pandemic has disrupted the socio-economic life of localities in the region, prolonged distance, disrupting production and labor supply chains. Production, business and export activities faced many difficulties. However, localities in the region still make efforts to restore production and boost exports.

The export turnover of the whole region in October reached 8.4 billion USD, up 10.8% over the previous month, accounting for 29.1% of the total export turnover of the country. In October, the South East provinces all had positive growth compared to September. Ho Chi Minh City, the locality hardest hit by this Covid-19 outbreak, but in October exports increased again, went up 2.1% compared to September, reaching an export value of 3,4 billion USD, the second highest in the country after Bac Ninh. Binh Duong reached 2.25 billion USD, went up 18.8%. Dong Nai reached 1.4 billion USD, increased by 23.4%. Ba Ria-Vung Tau reached 546 million USD, increased by 8.7%. Tay Ninh reached 426 million USD, increased by 22.4%. Binh Phuoc reached 330 million USD, increased by 0.4%.

In 10 months, the export turnover of the whole region reached 93.1 billion USD, went up 11.1% over the same period last year and accounted for 34.5% of the total export turnover of the country. Among the 6 provinces in the Southeast region, only Ho Chi Minh City has a slight decrease in export value compared to the same period last year by 1.2%, but it is the locality with the highest export value in the region and the second highest in the regionin the country, reaching 36 billion USD, accounting for 38.7% of the total export turnover of the region and accounting for 13.3% of the total export turnover of the country. The main export groups of Ho Chi Minh City are agricultural products; electronic goods, computers and their parts; textile; footwear; machinery, instrument, accessory.

Binh Duong is the second largest export province in the region. In 10 months of this year, Binh Duong’s export turnover reached 26.4 billion USD, went up 19.3% over the same period last year. The main export items of Binh Duong are wood and wood products; textiles; footwear; electronic goods, computers and their parts; iron and steel.

Dong Nai has many FDI enterprises producing supporting industrial products for Vietnam’s key products such as footwear, textiles, machinery and equipment, computers, electronic components, iron and steel products. Export turnover in 10 months of Dong Nai reached 17.5 billion USD, went up 15% over the same period last year.

In addition, other localities in the region achieved high growth rates. Tay Ninh reached 5 billion USD, went up 19%. Ba Ria – Vung Tau reached 4.9 billion USD, increased sharply by 44.3%. Binh Phuoc reached 3.2 billion USD, went up 36.3%.

In the last months of the year, in order to achieve the planned goals, the South East region needs to uphold the spirit of determination, consensus and joint efforts of the entire political system of the region in general and each locality in the region. in particular to promote production and business, spread vaccination, proactively and flexibly receive laborers to return to production and business, especially in key areas of industrial development. Along with that, it is necessary to actively develop a plan for economic recovery and development after the pandemic.
