The Covid-19 pandemic was gradually brought under control, the progress of vaccination against the Covid-19 pandemic achieved positive results and the Government’s Resolution No. 128/NQ-CP dated October 11, 2021 was issued in a timely manner. Due to the continued implementation of the dual goal of “epidemic prevention and socio-economic development”, the total retail sales of consumer goods and services in October improved significantly compared to the previous month.
Total retail sales of consumer goods and services in October was estimated at 357.9 trillion VND, up 18.1% over the previous month. In which, retail sales of goods reached 304.7 trillion VND, up 14.5% over the previous month; revenue from accommodation and food services reached VND 27.6 trillion, up 47.2%; tourism revenue reached 379 billion VND, 4 times higher; other service revenue reached 25.2 trillion VND, up 39.5%.
Retail sales of goods in October were estimated at 304.7 trillion dong, up 14.5% over the previous month as the Covid-19 epidemic was gradually controlled, and epidemic prevention measures were eased on a global scale. As a result, production and business activities reopened, goods circulated more smoothly, so retail sales in October increased sharply compared to September.
The group of food and foodstuff in October was estimated at 115.9 trillion VND, up 8% compared to the previous month; garment products reached VND 14.2 trillion, up 25.1% because clothing stores and trade centers were reopened, so this group of goods increased sharply compared to the previous month; household appliances, tools and equipment reached 35.8 trillion dong, up 13.8%; cultural and educational products reached VND 3.9 trillion, up 11.6%; vehicles reached 15.8 trillion VND, up 23.3%; gasoline and oil of all kinds reached 32.1 trillion dong, up 11.6%; other goods reached 23.9 trillion dong, up 18.9%.
Retail sales of goods in October compared to the previous month of some localities are as follows: Khanh Hoa increased by 39.2%; Ho Chi Minh City increased by 32.6%; Hanoi increased by 25.5%; Da Nang and Can Tho both increased by 19.9%; Dong Nai increased 10.5%; Quang Ninh increased by 9.6%; Binh Duong increased by 4%; Hai Phong increased by 2.3%.
Revenue from accommodation and food services in October was estimated at 27.6 trillion VND, up 47.2% compared to September, of which, revenue from accommodation services reached VND 1.7 trillion, up 29 ,8%; food service revenue reached 25.9 trillion dong, up 48.5%. Revenue from accommodation and food services in October of some localities had a high increase: Binh Dinh increased by 78.3%; Hanoi increased by 94.1%; Khanh Hoa increased by 127.5 %; Can Tho increased by 239.6%.
Revenue from tourism and traveling has shown signs of recovery, many localities have opened tourism with their own regulations in line with local realities and ensure the safety of tourists. Revenue from travel and tourism services in October was estimated at 379.3 billion VND, nearly 4 times higher than September. Tourism revenue in October of some localities has a high increase: Hanoi is 9.9 times higher; Quang Binh is 3.9 times higher; Thanh Hoa is 3.3 times higher; Ba Ria – Vung Tau increased by 55.5%; Quang Ninh increased by 9.1%.
Other services revenue in October was estimated at 25.2 trillion VND, up 39.5% from the previous month, increasing in most service industries: entertainment services 2.35 times higher than the previous month; administrative and support services by 41.6%; real estate services increased by 40.5%; other services by 42.1%; education and training services increased by 12%; medical services increased by 7.9%. Revenue from other services in October of some localities had a high increase: Hanoi was 2.4 times; Thanh Hoa increased by 51.8%; Dong Nai increased by 48.5%; Can Tho increased by 33.1%; Da Nang increased by 21.6%; Ho Chi Minh City increased by 15.5%.
