The Consumer Price Index (CPI) in June 2026 recorded a month-on-month decrease of 0.39%, mainly attributable to a decline in gasoline and oil prices in line with global fuel price movements. Compared to December 2025, the CPI in June increased by 3.21% and rose by 4.69% year-on-year.
a) Consumer Price Index
The CPI in June fell by 0.39% compared to the previous month, with price indices declining in four groups of goods and services, while increasing in seven groups. On average, the CPI in the second quarter of 2026 rose by 5.25% year-on-year. The average CPI for the first six months of 2026 increased by 4.38% compared to the same period last year.
Core inflation in June posted a month-on-month increase of 0.14% and a year-on-year rise of 4.50%. On average, core inflation in the first six months of 2026 went up by 4.12% year-on-year, lower than the 4.38% increase of the overall average CPI.
b) Gold and US dollar price indices
The gold price index in June declined by 8.46% compared to May; increased by 24.11% year-on-year; and decreased by 2.72% compared to December 2025. On average, the gold price index in the second quarter of 2026 rose by 36.84% year-on-year, while the average index for the first six months of 2026 surged by 58.12% compared to the same period last year.
The US dollar price index in June recorded a month-on-month increase of 0.11%; rose by 0.57% year-on-year; and fell by 0.17% compared to December 2025. On average, the US dollar price index in the second quarter of 2026 increased by 0.93% year-on-year, and the average index for the first six months of 2026 climbed by 1.75%.
