GSO held a workshop on the results of implementation of e-GDDS in 2020 and the plan for 2021. Mr. Pham Quang Vinh, Deputy Director General of GSO, Head of the Interdisciplinary Working Group on GDDS chaired the workshop.
Gross domestic product (GDP) in 2020 was estimated to increase by 2.91% over the last year, although being the lowest increase of the period 2011-2020, but in the context of the Covid-19 pandemic, negatively affecting all socio-economic fields, this is a great success for Vietnam with the growth rate in 2020 among the highest in the world.
2020-The year of significant importance, the last year of the five-year socio-economic development plan 2016-2020 implementation. The results of production and business activities in 2020 are the basis and motivation for the formulation and implementation of the socio-economic development plan in 2021-the first year of the socio-economic development plan 5 years 2021-2025.
GDP in the 1st quarter of 2014 was estimated to grow 4.96% from the same period in 2013, of which the sector of agriculture, forestry and fishery increased by 2.37%; industry and construction by 4.69%; service by 5.95%.
Overview of socio-economic situation in November and eleven months of 2020
Generally, in eleven months, Industrial Production Index (IPI) increased by 7.3% from the same period last year, lower than the growth rate of 7.4% in ten months of 2016 and much lower than the growth rate of 9.9% in 2015’s similar period.
As of August 15, 1,447.2 thousand hectares of winter rice were cultivated, equaling 99% of that area in the same period last year.
The index of industrial production (IIP) in October 2020 was estimated to increase by 3.6% over the previous month and by 5.4% over the same period last year.
