1. Agriculture, forestry, and fishing
a) Agriculture
– Winter- spring rice (main crop)
As of July 20, 2025, the national rice cultivation area reached 1,209.6 thousand hectares of winter-spring rice, a year-on-year decline of 10.5 thousand hectares. Northern localities reached 841.8 thousand hectares, fell by 23.9 thousand hectares; Southern localities reached 367.8 thousand hectares, rose by 13.3 thousand hectares.
– Summer-autumn rice
As of July 20, 2025, the national rice cultivation area reached 1,893.9 thousand hectares of summer-autumn rice, a year-on-year decrease of 7.4 thousand hectares, of which, Northern localities reached 172.5 thousand hectares, a decrease of 1.5 thousand hectares; Southern localities reached 1,721.4 thousand hectares, a decrease of 5.9 thousand hectares.
– Autumn-Winter rice
As of July 20, 2025, the Mekong Delta region sown 313,400 hectares of early autumn-winter rice, a year-on-year growth of 20,800 hectares,
– Annual crops
The area of some key annual crops witnessed a year-on-year fall due to low economic efficiency.
– Livestock
Buffalo and cattle farming in the month showed a downward trend. Pig farming faced challenges due to the complicated situation of African swine fever. The total number of pigs nationwide by the end of July was estimated at a year-on-year growth of 2.1%; the total number of poultry rose by 3.9%; the total number of cattle and buffaloes fell by 0.8% and 4.1%, respectively.
b) Forestry
The area of newly concentrated planted forest in July was estimated at 13.5 thousand hectares nationwide, a year-on-year reduction of 1.6%; the number of scattered forest trees reached 5.3 million, a drop of 2.4%; wood production reached 2,107.5 thousand m3, an increase of 5.9%; The damaged forest area in the month was estimated at 72.5 hectares, a year-on-year decline of 9.9%, of which the deforested area was estimated at 58.7 hectares, a rise of 18.2%; the burnt forest area reached 13.8 hectares, a sink of 55.1%. Generally in seven months of 2025,, the area of newly planted concentrated forests was estimated at 164.4 thousand hectares, a year-on-year expansion of 15.1%; the number of scattered forest trees reached 53.9 million trees, rose by 2.1%; wood production reached 13.2 million m3, climbed by 7.6%; the damaged forest area was estimated at 928.8 hectares, a year-on-year decrease of 28.7%, of which the deforested area was 631.8 hectares, a rise of 7.5%; the burnt forest area reached 297.0 hectares, a fall of 58.5%.
c) Fishing
Capture fisheries and aquaculture production in July was estimated at 949.3 thousand tons, a year-on-year growth of 3.0%, Aquaculture production in the month was estimated at 603.3 thousand tons, a year-on-year upturn of 5.1%; capture fisheries production in the month was estimated at 346.0 thousand tons, a year-on-year decline of 0.3%.
Generally for 7 months of 2025, the total capture fisheries and aquaculture production was estimated at 5,500.0 thousand tons, a year-on-year growth of 3.1%, of which, fish reached 3,925.7 thousand tons, an increase of 2.8%; shrimp reached 793.4 thousand tons, a rise of 5.6%; other aquatic products reached 780.9 thousand tons, a growth of 2.0%.
2. Industrial production
– Industrial production in July continuously sustained its upward trajectory. In July, the Index of Industrial Production (IIP) was estimated at a growth rate of 0.5% month-on-month and 8.5% year-on-year. Generally for 7 months of 2025, the IIP grew by 8.6% over that in the same period last year (the corresponding figure in 2024 was 8.5%).
– The IIP in the 7 months of 2025 experienced a year-on-year increase in all 34 provinces and municipalities.
– The number of employees in industrial enterprises as of July 01st, 2025 saw a month-on-month growth of 1.0% and a year-on-year increase of 3.9%.
3. Enterprise registration status [1]
In July, the country had 16.5 thousand newly established enterprises, a month-on-month decrease of 32.3% and a year-on-year increase of 4.7%. In addition, there were 14.6 thousand enterprises resumed across the country, a rise of 1.6% month-on-month and 78.3% year-on-year; 7.3 thousand enterprises registered to temporarily shut down for a specific period, a month-on-month increase of 14.2% and a year-on-year increase of 7.4%; 4.4 thousand enterprises temporarily suspended awaiting dissolution procedures, a decline of 56.4% month-on-month and 37.7% year-on-year; 1.9 thousand enterprises completed dissolution procedures, a month on-month fall of 29.4% and a year-on-year rise of 5.4%.
Generally, for seven months this year, the whole country had 174.0 thousand newly established and resumed enterprises, a year-on-year increase of 22.9%; on average, there were 24.9 thousand newly established and resumed enterprises a month. The number of enterprises withdrew from the market was 144.4 thousand enterprises, a rise of 15.1% year-on-year, on average, 20.6 thousand enterprises withdrew from the market a month.
4. Investment
– The disbursed State budget investment in July was estimated at 76.5 trillion VND, up 30.1% (Y-o-Y). Generally for seven months of 2025, the total disbursed State budget investment was estimated at 378.3 trillion VND, gaining 40.7% over the annual plan and increasing by 25.4% year-on-year (the same rates in 2024 were 38.6% and 2.4%).
– Total inward foreign investment in Viet Nam as of July 31, 2025, including newly registered capital, adjusting registered capital and capital contribution and purchasing shares by foreign investors reached 24.09 billion USD, a year-on-year increase of 27.3%.
– The disbursed FDI in Viet Nam in seven months of 2025 was estimated at 13.6 billion USD, a year-on-year increase of 8.4%.
– Viet Nam’s outward investment in seven months of 2025 witnessed 105 projects granted with new investment certificates with a total capital of 398.9 million USD, 3.2 times higher than that in the same period last year; 20 turns of projects adjusted their capital with an addition of 129.6 million USD, increasing by 4.5 times. Generally, the total Viet Nam’s outward FDI (newly licensed and adjusted capital) in seven months of 2025 reached 528.5 million USD, 3.5 times higher than that in the same period last year.
5. State budget revenue and expenditure
Total state budget revenue in July 2025 was estimated at 242.1 trillion VND. The total state budget revenue accrued in seven months of 2025 was estimated at 1,577.5 trillion VND, reaching 80.2% of the annual estimate and going up by 27.8% over the same period last year.
Total state budget expenditure in July 2025 was estimated at 164.9 trillion VND. The accrued expenditure in 7 months of 2025 was estimated at 1.317,4 trillion VND, equivalent to 51.7% of the annual estimate and 39.3% increase year-on-year.
6. Trade, prices, transport and tourism
a) Retail sales of consumer goods and services
Gross retail sales of consumer goods and services at current prices in July were estimated at 576.4 trillion VND, going up by 1.1% month-on-month and increasing by 9.2% year-on-year. Generally, for seven months of 2025, the gross retail sales of consumer goods and services at current prices were estimated at 3,993.4 trillion VND, going up by 9.3% compared to the same period last year (the figure of the same period in 2024 was 8.9%), if excluding the factor of price rising by 7.1% (the figure of the same period in 2024 was 6.2%).
b) Export and import of goods[2]
In July, the total export and import turnover of goods[3] reached 82.27 billion USD, gaining a month-on-month rise of 8.0% and a year-on-year increase of 16.8%. Generally, for 7 months, the total export and import turnover of goods reached 514.7 billion USD, going up by 16.3% over that in the same period last year, of which export and import increased by 14.8%; and 17.9%[4], respectively. Trade surplus was 10.18 billion USD.
– Export of goods
+ Export turnover of goods in July 2025 reached 42.27 billion USD, going up by 6.9% over that in the previous month and increased by 16.0% compared to the same period last year. Compared to the same period last year. Of which, the domestic economic sector was 67.48 billion USD, went up by 6.7%, accounted for 25.7% of the total export turnover; the FDI sector (including crude oil) attained 194.96 billion USD, increased by 17.9%, shared 74.3%.
+ Regarding the structure of exported commodities in seven months of 2025, the group of manufactured commodities reached 232.37 billion USD, accounting for 88.6%.
– Import of goods
+ Import turnover of goods in July 2025 reached 40.0 billion USD, increased by 9.1% over that in the previous month and increased by 17.8% compared to the same period last year. Generally, the import turnover of goods in seven months of 2025 reached 252.26 billion USD, increased by 17.9% over that in the same period last year. Of which the domestic economic sector reached 84.07 billion USD, went up by 8.0%; the FDI sector gained 168.19 billion USD, rose by 23.6%.
+ Regarding the structure of imported commodities in seven months of 2025, the group of capital goods reached 236.57 billion USD, accounted for 93.8%.
– Regarding the export and import market of goods in seven months of 2025, the United States was the Viet Nam’s largest export market with a turnover of 85.1 billion USD. China remained the largest import market of Viet Nam with its turnover of 101.5 billion USD.
– According to preliminary data, trade balance of goods in July recorded a surplus of 2.27 billion USD. Overall, in seven months of 2025, the trade balance of goods recorded a surplus of 10.18 billion USD (the same figure in 2024 was 14.63 billion USD). Of which, the domestic economic sector posted a trade deficit of 16.6 billion USD; the FDI sector (including crude oil) recorded a trade surplus of 26.78 billion USD.
c) Consumer price index, Gold price index, and US dollar price index
– The consumer price index (CPI) in July increased by 0.11%; 2.13% and 3.19% compared to that in the previous month; December 2024 and the same period last year, respectively. The average CPI in seven months of 2025 witnessed a year-on-year increase of 3.26%, the core inflation saw a rise of 3.18%.
– The gold price index in July rose by 1.02%; 49.7% and 34.9% compared to that in June 2025; the same period last year and December 2024, respectively. The average gold price in seven months of 2025 spiked by 39.09%.
– The US dollar price index in July gained a rise of 0.37% month-on-month, 3.39% year-on-year, and 3.39% compared to that December 2024. The average USD price index in seven months of 2025 expanded by 3.32%.
d) Passengers and cargo transport
Passengers carried in July 2025 were estimated at 537.9 million turns of passengers, a month-on-month increase of 2.1% and passenger traffic was estimated at 27.6 billion passengers-kilometers, an increase of 2.9%. Generally, for seven months of 2025, passengers carried were estimated at 3,401.7 million turns of passengers, a year-on-year rise of 21.5% and passenger traffic reached 179.8 billion passengers-kilometers, a year-on-year growth of 13.7%.
Freight carried in July 2025 was estimated at 242.4 million tons, a month-on-month increase of 0.9% and freight traffic reached 53.4 billion tons-kilometers, a month-on-month upturn of 1.7%. Overall, in seven months of 2025, freight carried was estimated at 1,673.5 million tons, a year-on-year rise of 13.7% and freight traffic reached 345.4 billion tons.km, a year-on-year increase of 13.6%.
đ) International visitors to Viet Nam[5]
More and more international visitors came to Viet Nam thanks to favorable visa policies, enhanced tourism advocacy and promotion programs, together with charming celebration activities of great national holidays. In July, the number of international visitors to Viet Nam reached 1.56 million, a month-on-month increase of 6.8% and a year-on-year rise of 35.7%. Generally, for seven months of 2025, the international visitors to Viet Nam reached 12.23 million, witnessed a year-on-year increase of 22.5%.
7. Social situation
According to preliminary results of the Labor Force Survey, 96.2% surveyed households reported that their income in July remained unchanged and increased compared to that in the same period last year (this rate was a month-on-month decrease of 0.4 percentage points and a year-on-year increase of 0.4 percentage points); 3.8% households said that their income decreased. Social security work was always implemented promptly and practically by all levels and sectors. From the beginning of the year to the end of July 29, 2025, the Government provided 10.3 thousand tons of rice to the people, of which: 6.0 thousand tons were provided for 402.6 thousand persons for hunger relief during the Lunar New Year and 4.3 thousand tons of rice were provided for 284.5 thousand persons during the 2025 pre-harvest season. According to data reported by the Ministry of Ethnic and Religious Affairs, as of July 27, 2025, a total of 268,470 temporary and dilapidated houses were supported for demolition and reconstruction nationwide (234,975 houses completed and 33,495 houses under construction).
– In seven months of 2025, the country had 110.1 thousand cases of rash fever suspected of measles (11 deaths); 43.5 thousand cases of dengue fever (05 deaths); nearly 33.9 thousand cases of hand, foot, and mouth disease; 185 cases of viral encephalitis (01 death); 47 deaths of rabies; and 33 cases of meningococcal meningitis; 41 cases of food poisoning with 484 people affected, (13 deaths).
– In July (from June 26 to July 25, 2025), there were 1,408 cases of traffic accident nationwide, causing 804 deaths and 959 injuries. In seven months of 2025, there were 10,809 cases of traffic accident nationwide, resulting in 6,101 deaths and 7,205 injuries. Compared to the figures of the same period last year, the number of traffic accidents, deaths, and injuries decreased by 23.8%, 3.8%, and 33.1% respectively. On average, in seven months of 2025, there were 51 traffic accidents, causing 29 deaths and 34 injuries a day.
– In July, damage caused by natural disasters was mainly attributed to rain-induced floods and inundations. In seven months of this year, natural disasters caused 144 people died or missing, and 100 others injured; damaged 109.4 thousand hectares of rice and 16.1 thousand hectares of other crops; and collapsed, swept away, or damaged nearly 16.0 thousand houses. The total value of property damage was estimated at 5,614.0 billion VND, 2.5 times higher than the figure of the same period in 2024.
– In July (from June 18 – July 17, 2025), 291 cases of environmental violations in 28 out of 34 localities were detected by functional authorities. In seven months of this year, the functional authorities detected 8,564 cases of environmental violations, of which 7,668 cases were addressed with a total fine of 127.6 billion VND, a year-on-year decrease of 27.9%.
– In seven months of 2025, there were 1,939 cases of fires and explosion nationwide, causing 70 deaths and 79 injuries with an estimated loss of 179.5 billion VND, a 13.7% growth compared to that in the same period last year./.
