The rice-growing area for the entire year of 2025 is estimated to reach 7.13 million hectares, down 1.1 thousand hectares compared to 2024, mainly due to the continued conversion of part of the rice land to non-agricultural purposes and other crops with higher economic efficiency.
Rising food prices and dining out rates were the main reasons for the 0.19% increase in the Consumer Price Index (CPI) in December 2025 compared to the previous month. Compared to December 2024, the December CPI increased by 3.48%. The average CPI for the fourth quarter of 2025 increased by 3.44% compared to the fourth quarter of 2024. For the whole year 2025, the CPI increased by 3.31% year-on-year, meeting the target set by the National Assembly.

In the 9 months of 2025, the world situation continued to perform in a complex and unpredictable manner, strategic competition among major countries became increasingly fierce, trade tensions, military conflicts, and political instability in a number of countries and regions continued to spread and prolong; financial and currency markets fluctuated, affecting the global economic growth prospects.
In November, agricultural production focused on harvesting winter-spring rice, cultivating other winter crops, caring for and restoring production and livestock affected by natural disasters and floods, especially in the coastal provinces of the South Central Coast and the Central Highlands. Wood exploitation and aquaculture witnessed a stability, ensuring raw material supply for processing and export.
Agricultural production in November 2025 focused on harvesting the summer-autumn rice crop, sowing winter crops, and taking care of, as well as restoring livestock production affected by natural disasters, particularly storms and floods in the provinces of Central Vietnam and the Central Highlands. As of November 20, 2025, the whole country had harvested 1,283.2 thousand hectares of summer-autumn rice, accounting for 83.3% of the planted area and 100.2% of the same period last year.
The consumer price index (CPI) in November increased by 0.45% compared to the previous month, mainly due to high food prices in provinces and centrally run cities directly affected by floods after the storm; eating out increased due to increased input material costs and fuel prices. The CPI in November increased by 3.28% compared to December 2024; increased by 3.58% compared to the same period last year.

As of October 20, 2025, the whole country had harvested 865,500 hectares of seasonal rice, equivalent to 91.7% of the same period last year.
