January is the time to promote consumption of industrial products, so the index of industrial production in January 2022 is estimated to decrease by 3.1% compared to the previous month and increase by 2.4% over the same period last year, of which manufacturing industry increased by 2.8%.

The index of industrial production (IIP) of 01/2022 was estimated to decrease by 3.1% over the previous last month[1] and increase by 2.4 over the same period last year. Of which, the manufacturing rose by 2.8%, contributing 2.6 percentage points to the general growth; electricity production and distribution went up by 5.1%, contributing 0.5 percentage points; water supply, waste and wastewater management, and treatment peaked up by 1.2%, contributing 0.02 percentage points; the mining industry alone shrank by 4.6%, down by 0.7 percentage points.

[1] The IIP index in 01/2022 compared with the previous month of a number of localities with large industrial scale decreased sharply: Hai Phong decreased by 8.4%; Hanoi decreased by 8.3%; Ba Ria – Vung Tau decreased by 6.8%; Bac Ninh decreased by 6.6%; Ho Chi Minh City decreased by 6.2%; Thai Nguyen decreased by 5.4%; Quang Ninh fell by 2.3%.
