In February, the index of industrial production (IIP) was estimated to decrease by 17.1% over the previous month and increase 8% year on year, mainly due to February this year coinciding with the Lunar New Year holiday therefore the number of working days less than other months.

GDP in the 1st quarter of 2018 was estimated to increase by 7.38%, which was the highest rate of the 1st quarter in the last 10 years, compared to the same period last year, confirming the timeliness and efficiency in the issuance of solutions and drastic direction of the Government to all levels, sectors and localities to make efforts from the first days and months of 2018.

Socio-economic situation in May and five months in 2018

Fishery production in May was estimated at 654.3 thousand tons, grew up 6.7% compared with the same period last year, that included fish reached 483.6 thousand tons, grew up 7.2%; shrimp reached 70.2 thousand tons, rose by 11.3%; other fisheries reached 100.5 thousand tons, rose by 1.5%.

Socio-economic situation in the second quarter and six months of 2018

Gross domestic product (GDP) in the first 6 months of 2018 was estimated to increase 7.08% compared to the same period last year, the highest increase of 6 months from 2011 onwards, affirming the timeliness and efficiency of the drastic direction of the Government to achieve the economic growth target in 2018.

Socio-economic situation in the first quarter of 2019

The gross domestic product (GDP) in the first quarter of 2019 was estimated to increase by 6.79% compared to the same period last year, lower than the growth rate of the first quarter of 2018 but higher than the growth of the first quarter of 2011-2017.
