The rice-growing area for the entire year of 2025 is estimated to reach 7.13 million hectares, down 1.1 thousand hectares compared to 2024, mainly due to the continued conversion of part of the rice land to non-agricultural purposes and other crops with higher economic efficiency.

Viet Nam Population Projections 2024-2074

The Intercensal Population and Housing Survey was conducted at 0:00 on 1 April 2024 under Decision No. 629/QĐ-TCTK dated 14 July 2023 issued by the Director of the General Statistics Office (now the National Statistics Office). This is a large-scale sample survey, covering approximately 20% of all enumeration areas nationwide (equivalent to 39,340 areas). The sample design ensures district-level representativeness (prior to administrative mergers for population size indicators and provincial-level representativeness for the remaining indicators.

The rice area for the whole year of 2024 is estimated at 7.13 million hectares, an increase of 12.0 thousand hectares compared to the previous year; rice yield was estimated at 60.9 quintals/ha, down 0.12 quintals/ha, rice output reached 43.46 million tons, down 33.6 thousand tons.
